CURRENT MORNING SKINCARE ROUTINE

Welcome back for Day Two of Skincare Week. Today I’m chatting about the products I’m currently using for my morning skincare routine. It’s a little bit shorter than my evening routine, mainly because I’m absolutely not a morning person so I’d rather spend as many extra minutes in bed as possible!

MY SKIN TYPE & CONCERNS
As I’ve mentioned countless times before I have a patch of hyperpigmentation on my right cheek from previous spots and blemishes that has been around for years now. It has improved a LOT over the last few months, however it’s still something I feel super self conscious about.

Hyperpigmentation aside, I’d describe the rest of my skin as pretty average. It’s combination, although more oily on the cheeks and chin rather than the forehead and chin, and I get the odd breakout, usually on my chin / around my mouth, which is usually hormonal although I’m terrible for resting my chin on my hand and generally touching that area of my face an awful lot throughout the day which I’m sure doesn’t help matters.

MY MORNING ROUTINE
My morning skincare routine is mainly about refreshing and prepping my skin to look and feel the best it can for the day ahead  whether I’m applying make-up or going bare faced.

The steps for my baseline morning skincare routine are:

Step 1: Pre-Cleanse

Step 2: Cleanse

Step 3: Acid Toner

Step 4: Hydrating Toner

Step 5: Eye Cream

Step 6: Serum

Step 7: Moisturiser

If I’m having any specific skincare problems, breakouts etc, then I’ll add in additional products as neccessary.

THE CURRENT PRODUCTS
Morning Skincare Routine products
Pre Cleanse – Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water, £4.99 › available here
This is possibly an unnecessary step but one I do like to include, particularly on mornings when I’m a little bleary eyed. Running a cotton wool pad soaked in micellar water over my face helps wake me up and refresh my skin without being quite as much as a shock to the skin as jumping straight in with cold water. I’ve talked a lot about how much I like this micellar water, I honestly can’t tell the difference between this and Bioderma and it’s so much cheaper.

Cleanser – Lush Ultrabland Cleanser, £7.50 › available here
I’ve been using this for the last six weeks or so and I really like it. It’s a soft, gentle balm cleanser that leaves my skin feeling really hydrated.

Acid Toner – Mario Badescu Glycolic Acid Toner, £15.50 › available here
I used this pretty much religiously for all of last year and I do still rate this, however I think Pixi’s Glow Tonic just packs a little extra punch when it comes to helping improve my post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. That being said, this is still a really decent glycolic acid toner that does a great job of improving the texture of my skin and, because it has 2% rather than 5% glycolic acid I think it’s a more gentle option, I like to use this on a morning.

Hydrating Toner – La Roche-Posay Serozinc Spray, £8.50 › available here
Same as my evening skincare routine, I’m loving Serozinc – you can read my thoughts here.

Eye Cream – Indeed Labs Hydraluron, £24.99 › available here & Boots Botanics 80% Organic Hydrating Eye Cream, £9.99 › available here
Again, the exact same combo as I’m currently using in my evening skincare routine – you can read my thoughts here.

Serum – Una Brennan Super Facialist Vitamin C+ Glow Boost Skin Serum, £16.99 › available here
A pea sized amount does the job here as an amazing pep me up for my skin. Enriched with hyaluronic acid, algae extract to moisturise and vitamin C it really does help give the skin a little extra luminosity. Plus, it smells AMAZING.

Moisturiser – Dermalogica Skin Smoothing Cream, £36.00 (RRP £48.00) › available here.
This is an excellent moisturiser, but I do have to use a bit more of it than the Eurecin that I constantly rave about. It has extracts of arnica which is used to help fade bruises, so I feel like this is a good one to use prior to applying make-up to help diminish any redness or marks from breakouts.

What does your morning skincare routine look like?

I’ll be back tomorrow with the masks and skin treatments that I work into my routine…
