FRIDAY FIVE: DRUGSTORE SKINCARE FAVOURITES

I’m all for investing in skincare, after all you only get one face so why not look after it the best you can? However, unless you have a bottomless bank account, most of us can’t afford to spend a fortune on every part of our skincare routine. Here are five of my drugstore skincare favourites: Drugstore Skincare Favourites

  1. Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water, £4.99 available here
Always on offer so even more of a bargain, I haven’t purchased Bioderma since I started using this. At the rate I get through micellar water, from removing eye makeup to spot cleaning make up brushes, this saves me a fortune! It’s great and, to be honest, I’m not sure I can ever tell the difference between micellar waters anyway so why not save some pennies?!
  2. Una Brennan Super Facialist Vitamin C+ Glow Boost Skin Serum, £16.99 available here.
A pea sized amount definitely does the job here so this serum lasts me ages. Enriched with hyaluronic acid, algae extract to moisturise and vitamin C I use this on a morning as a pep me up for my skin.
  3. La Roche-Posay Serozinc Spray, £8.50 available here
Love this stuff. I started using this as my hydrating toner and it’s fantastic. It helps fight breakouts, banish spots and reduce the oiliness.
  4. Eucerin Dry Skin Replenishing Face Cream, £11, available here
I’ve rambled on before about my love for this moisturiser. Without a doubt the best moisturiser I have ever used. It’s just perfect for my skin – non greasy, absorbs well and can solve my dehydrated skin problems quickly, often overnight.
  5. Boots Botanics 80% Organic Hydrating Eye Cream, £9.99 available here
I’ve had really, really, really dry skin patches under my right eye and on both eyelids on and off for the past few months. Neither of the eye creams I had seemed to make a difference so, on a whim and with a bit of desperation, I bought this. It’s made a real difference to my dry patches (they’ve completely gone on my eyelids and have almost gone underneath my right eye now as well…). I don’t really have much in the way of fine lines around my eyes so I couldn’t really comment on that but the texture of the skin has definitely improved and generally feels smoother and plumper so I imagine this might be good for helping with fine lines.

FRIDAY FIVE: VALENTINE’S RED LIPSTICKS

On my lips: Sephora Cream Lip Stain in 01 Always Red

A classic red lip is one of the few make-up looks that never goes off out of style (preach it, TayTay). Red lips are synonymous with timeless elegance, glamour and a hefty dose of instant sex appeal but a red lip isn’t just for a special occasion. Whether you’re wanting to dress up a casual look or to add something to transition a look from day to night, a dash of red lipstick can be a complete game-changer. From matte to glossy, bright or deep hues, everyone has an opinion on which red lipstick is The Ultimate.

FRIDAY FIVE: PAYDAY BEAUTY WISH LIST

Ugh. January. I sometimes feel like I may be the only person who wishes that you didn’t get paid a week or so earlier in December, but I’m pretty sure most people understand that “it’s been five and a half weeks, hurry up and get here already” feeling when it comes to January’s pay day.

Here are the items making their way onto my “Must Purchase” list for the end of the month… Payday wishlist January

  1. Make Up For Ever Step 1 Skin Equalizer Mattifying Primer, £13 here
I actually don’t know why I haven’t got around to buying this yet. It’s been on my list of things to try for months now. My obsession with all things mattifying is a pretty serious one so I have high hopes for this.
  2. M.A.C Eyeshadow Pro Palette Refill Pans in Brun and Wedge, £10 each here
These two have been on my list for a while now, plus it’ll complete my Pro Palette so… Obviously an essential purchase 😉
  3. Top Ford Lips & Boys Lipsticks, £27 each here
Obviously I’m not going to buy all fifty of these lipsticks because that would be ridiculous. Or would it…?
There are, however, so many gorgeous shades that narrowing down which to get is tricky. On the list of potentials are Giocomo, Drake, Alejandro, Collin, Malik, Egon, Luciano, Jake, Henry and Roberto. I think somebody needs to stage an intervention.
  4. Becca Jaclyn Hill Shimmering Skin Perfector in Champagne Pop, £32 here
Because it is clearly highlighting perfection and I need it!
  5. NIOD Photography Fluid, £20 here
Let’s just acknowledge that I have no self control and am a sucker for a good blogger recommended product. But when people are claiming it’s like an Instagram filter for your face then what’s a girl to do?!
