FRIDAY FIVE: MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS WEEK

Here in the UK, this week is Mental Health Awareness week (16th – 22nd May) – something which I think is so important and not talked about anywhere near enough.

In the spirit of that, I wanted to share a few things that I have read / come across over the years and have really struck a chord with me – to remind me to be kinder and more compassionate to others AND to myself.

It seems we live in a world where we’re all so hyper-critical of ourselves and each other – our looks, our accomplishments, our life choices – people, especially on social media, can so often be cruel, unkind and judgemental and that makes me a little sad. We could all stand to be a little kinder.

Another persons accomplishments don’t need to be belittled to make our own matter. There is never a reason or excuse for someone to go out of their way to tell another person they are too ugly/fat/old/etc. And we really don’t need to be telling ourselves that we’re not good enough/smart enough/pretty enough.

We should be kind to others and kind to ourselves wherever possible., and as a much wiser man once said, it is always possible!

HOW MUCH DOES MY FACE COST?

I’m kind of obsessed by the ‘How Much Does Your Face Cost’ Tag – this is where you make a note of all the products you have on your face for any one day, note the cost of each item and then total it. Now obviously you won’t be using an entire bottle of foundation or an entire lipstick in one go, but them’s the rules!

BEAUTY REVIEW: MAC X CAITLYN JENNER FINALLY FREE LIPSTICK

MAC’s latest celebrity collaboration launched in the UK last week and I ordered one as a little birthday present to myself. Finally Free has been developed in collaboration with Caitlyn Jenner and shares the same charity principles as the Viva Glam lipsticks, with all of the RRP value (minus VAT) going directly to causes benefiting the transgender community in the UK.

MAC X Caitlyn Jenner Finally Free Lipstick

‘Finally Free’ is described as a ‘mid-tone rosy nude’ and on me that’s definitely an accurate decision. I’d call it a ‘my lips but better’ shade, that’s got a slightly rosier hint than my natural lip colour making this a perfect everyday lip option. I feel like it’s a more flattering version of the 90’s nude, as it definitely leans more berry toned than brown on me. Continue reading “BEAUTY REVIEW: MAC X CAITLYN JENNER FINALLY FREE LIPSTICK”

ONE ROOM CHALLENGE | WEEK SIX: THE DINING ROOM REVEAL

Well, the last six weeks have flown by and here’s where we are now…

I couldn’t be more pleased with where the dining room is at right now compared to when I started on this One Room Challenge. Sure, there are things that didn’t get done, and things I may end up changing out, but having an almost finished space is incredible.
