FRIDAY FIVE: TRAVEL BUCKET LIST | WINTER EDITION

travel bucket list.jpgSo… I guess I could get into a super long explanation of why I haven’t been posting since May but, honestly, that’s just a tale of woe and misery that nobody wants to hear and I really don’t feel ready to put fingers to keyboard about. Instead, let’s jump back into a Friday Five. Because nothing cheers me up like thinking about holidays…

I’ve always been the kind of person that gets thoroughly over-excited at the promise of snow so, when this time of year rolls around, I can’t help but day dream of taking a short break to somewhere that looks like an idyllic Christmas card scene. Here’s what makes the top five for my dream winter vacation…

Laplan

Lapland, Finland
Surely Lapland is on everyone’s snowy dream vacation list? As a self confessed Christmas addict the thought of visiting Lapland definitely takes the number one spot for me. And you’d best believe I’d want to stay in one of those incredible glass igloos…

Greenland
Visit Greenland

Greenland
To be honest, I’d never really thought about Greenland as a travel destination until recently – I’m not sure I even realised it was somewhere you really could go on holiday until a friend of mine spent a week there last year. Her pictures were amazing and made me super inspired to visit one day. She went in July but I’d far rather go in winter. I mean, isn’t the whole point of Greenland that it’s a snowy wonderland?!

St Petersburg

St Petersburg, Russia
St Petersburg is somewhere I’ve always wanted to go, and the thought of going in winter just makes it seem even more magical. Add a fur hat and I’d be indulging in all kinds of Tolstoy-esque fantasies. Throw in a trip to the ballet while I’m there and this would be utter perfection.

Iceland

Iceland
So much to see, so much to do. From the Blue Lagoon to all the amazing volcanoes, waterfalls, geysers and glaciers Iceland has to offer. The dramatic landscape of Iceland is a must see for me.

Northern Lights

Northern Lights, Arctic Circle
Another one that has been on my must visit list for a long, long time. Whether it was in Norway, Sweden or Finland. Heading up to the Arctic Circle to catch the Northern Lights definitely earns a spot on my bucket list.

Where would make it on to your winter travel bucket list?
